Summer Program Planning
Summer Services Tailored to Your Needs
Summer brings with it a unique set of events on the University of Michigan campus. These include post-graduate workshops, continuing education seminars, special programs for minority students, new student orientation, and athletic youth camps, to name only a few. In a typical summer, the University may host as many as 28,000 people.
The requirements for these events are as diverse as the groups themselves. Whatever event may be pending, and whatever level of organization and detail is necessary, the University's Conference Services staff can help. In some cases, basic accommodations and meal plans in residence halls are sufficient. Other groups may require a host of special arrangements such as catering, parking permits, on-site counselors and coordinators, hospitality tours, banquets, receptions, or evening excursions.
Summer Program Accommodations
During the summer months University residence halls can accommodate a large number of conference participants, often as many as 4,000 - 5,000 people. While groups of up to 1,200 may be housed in one building, other residences are more intimate, with as few as 73 rooms. The range of accommodations is wide, and each housing option has its own unique character.
University Housing dining services offers cafeteria-style meal plans with a variety of options for complete, well-balanced food and beverage arrangements. In addition, you can call on the services of experienced caterers and nutritionists to plan special menus and tailor meals and dining times to conference schedules.
We also offer Blue Bucks, a unique in-house debit card system that allows participants to purchase meals at residence halls, snack bars, and franchise restaurants on campus.
Every effort is made to assure a positive experience and to provide adult and youth guests with as many lodging comforts as possible. Organizers can choose from a long list of options such as linen packets, daily housekeeping, and meal plans. Special requests are welcomed.
