Trainers
The Athletic Department must provide Trainers to stay in the building overnight in anticipation of a camper emergency and to provide responsible and qualified athletic training.
Trainer Responsibilities
Trainers staying in the residence halls for camps are responsible for:
- Keeping the medical release forms of the sport(s) he or she is assigned.
- Collecting and distributing any prescription medications of the campers.
- Providing adequate emergency transportation for injured campers. If a trainer does not have a car, the sport must provide one.
- Working with University Housing security to decide if a camper needs an ambulance.
- Arranging adequate training and medical supplies for treatment of common injuries.
- Communicating with University Housing when a camper is injured.
- Working to insure camper safety.
- Refraining from bringing guests and illegal substances into the residence halls.
Communication
If a camper needs to go to the hospital
Notify the front desk if it is during activities. If the camper needs to go to the hospital after the front desk has closed, page the appropriate coordinator on duty:
- Fred, Taylor, Gomberg, or Huber House campers: page the East Side Duty Coordinator.
- Thronson, Kelsey, Bush, or Hunt House campers: page the West Side Duty Coordinator.
When a camper returns from the hospital, notify the respective Duty Coordinator.
If a camper is injured
- Page the Assistant Athletic Camp Director.
- Make sure University Housing Security and University Housing staffs receive a copy of the incident report.
If a trainer is not able to stay in the building at night
- Make arrangements for another trainer to cover the medical needs of the campers.
- Notify the Assistant Athletic Camp Director.
