Camp Staff Definitions
The Wolverine Summer Camps employs the services of many people from both the Athletic Department and University Housing. To help sort it out, the definitions below highlight the many different roles.
Department Personnel
Athletic personnel involved in the Wolverine Summer Camps are defined as:
- Sports Camp Staff – a general term used to describe staff that report to the Athletic Department.
- Coaches – lead the camps’ athletic programs.
- Trainers – provide athletic training to campers and stay over night in the residence hall to provide nighttime supervision and safety.
- Program Organizers – the person responsible for structuring the sports side of the camps.
University Housing Personnel
The camp supervisory staff for the residential campers consists of a Camp Director, an Assistant Camp Director, six Coordinators, approximately fifty Counselors, and ten Front Office Staff, all working together to provide the best experiences possible for each camper. The camp staff is comprised of mainly University of Michigan students, both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Camps Staff – a general term used to describe staff that report to University Housing.
- Camp Director – the manager responsible for overseeing the residential side of the camps.
- Assistant Camp Director – the assistant manager responsible for overseeing the residential side of the camps.
- Camp Coordinators – a general term used to describe the six different camp coordinator roles.
- Activities Coordinator – designs and implements the camper activity schedule and supervises nightly activities.
- Building Coordinator – responsible for camper placement and manages move-in and move-out.
- Counselor Coordinator – conducts counselor training and supervises counselors.
- Office Coordinator conducts office staff training and supervises office staff.
- Safety Coordinator – responsible
for all camp related safety issues
- Registration Coordinator – supervises registration of campers and makes counselor assignments and schedules.
- Camp Counselors – supervise Campers during evening activities and overnight in the residence hall.
- Camp Office Staff – provides administrative services for the Wolverine Summer Camps in the residence hall.
