Staff Background Checks
Background checks are required for all staff who are living in a University of Michigan Residence Hall and supervising youth groups 17 years of age and younger. This is for the safety of your staff as well as participants in University of Michigan programs.
Process
University Housing will send Background Check forms to the program organizer to be completed by the hiring department. Each staff member who will be residing in a residence hall and supervising youth groups must sign the authorization. Retain the pink copy and then forward the completed forms to the Department of Public Safety and Security at the time staff is hired. University Housing will send you the results of the background checks.
Periodic checks will be conducted to ensure that background checks have been submitted for your staff. Additional or replacement staff hired during the course of the camp must also have background check forms.
Deadline
The deadline for submitting forms to the Department of Public Safety and Security is two weeks prior to the start date of the program. This ensures that the information is processed before beginning your camp.
You do not have to submit all the forms together. To keep the process moving, forward the completed forms as you hire staff.
